Pathology
Clinical Scenario
A 72-year-old woman undergoes elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy for symptomatic gallstones. The resected specimen is sent for histology. The pathology report describes a 1.8cm moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma in the gallbladder fundus, invading the muscular layer but not penetrating beyond it. There were no pre-operative imaging findings to suggest malignancy.
