Clinical Scenario

A 34-year-old motorcyclist is brought to the emergency department following a road traffic collision at 60 mph. He is haemodynamically unstable with a GCS of 14, blood pressure 88/50 mmHg, heart rate 128 bpm, respiratory rate 26/min, and oxygen saturations of 94% on 15L O2 via a non-rebreather mask. The trauma team is assembling.
