Clinical Scenario
A 65-year-old man undergoes elective anterior resection for rectal cancer. He receives prophylactic co-amoxiclav perioperatively and broad-spectrum antibiotics post-operatively for a chest infection. On day 5 he develops fever, severe wound pain, and rapidly spreading erythema around the incision.
