Clinical Scenario
A 52-year-old woman with a 15-year history of ulcerative colitis is on endoscopic surveillance. Colonoscopy reveals a lesion in the sigmoid colon. Biopsy shows tubular dysplasia in one area and adenocarcinoma in another, with the tumour eroding through the muscularis layer and 1 of 4 lymph nodes positive.
