Clinical Scenario
A 34-year-old farmer presents to the emergency department after catching his right forearm on
rusty barbed wire. The wound is 6 cm long, heavily contaminated with soil and organic debris,
and has areas of devitalised tissue at the wound edges. He is haemodynamically stable and
neurovascularly intact distal to the wound. His tetanus status is unknown.
Please perform wound debridement on this model, explaining your actions to the examiner
as you proceed.
